Alban Thomas is Research Director and Head of the Social Sciences Department at INRA (National Institute for Agronomic Research). An environmental and natural resources economist, his research program focuses on the empirical analysis of the environmental effects of agriculture and the evaluation of environmental policies, the uses and pricing of water resources, and the adoption of innovative farming systems. He has coordinated several scientific expertise in the field of water and environment for various ministries and institutions (World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Economic Research Forum). He is co-director of the interdisciplinary metaprogramme Inra-Cirad GloFoodS on transitions for global food security.
