Heinrich Matthee is a political analyst for companies and NGOs and a guest researcher at the Amsterdam Centre for Middle Eastern Studies, University of Amsterdam. He has worked as a senior researcher in African security at the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa), as editor of the Emirates Occasional Papers at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research in Abu Dhabi (UAE) and as an analyst for the Middle East and North Africa at Control Risks in London (UK). He has also taught at the University of Amsterdam and business schools. His qualifications include a Master in International Studies from Birmingham University, UK, and a D. Phil. magna cum laude in political science from Marburg University, Germany, and he is the author of Muslim identities and political strategies (Kassel University Press: Kassel 2008).
