Shireen AlAzzawi teaches courses in international economics and economic development. Her research focuses on international trade, economic development and labor economics, with a special emphasis on the Middle East and North Africa. Shireen has published articles in Economic Development and Cultural Change, The Journal of International Trade and Economic Development, IZA Journal of Labor Policy, and Global Business and Economics Review. Shireen received her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis and has a Masters degree from both Stanford University and the American University in Cairo. Before joining Santa Clara, Shireen was an Assistant Professor at the American University in Cairo. She has also taught at San Jose State University and at the University of California, Davis.
